Daxton Bennick Withdraws from AMA Pro Motocross Championship Opener
Daxton Bennick will miss the opening round of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship in California due to injuries sustained during the Philadelphia Supercross round. The 20-year-old suffered a concussion and a compression fracture in his back after a crash mid-April, prematurely ending his sophomore season in Supercross.
This latest incident marks Bennick’s second concussion of the season. Earlier, a practice accident in February had already set him back, forcing him to miss the second round of the 250SX East Division in Detroit. Despite these challenges, Bennick finished the season ranked tenth in the 250SX East Division Championship standings, achieving a career-best second place at the season opener.
In a recent Instagram post, Bennick confirmed his decision to sit out the early rounds of Pro Motocross to prioritize his recovery. He stated, “I won’t be racing the first couple rounds of outdoors to make sure I make a full recovery before racing again. I have been doing everything I can right now to heal up.”
This announcement raises concerns regarding rider safety and health in high-impact motorsports, underscoring the importance of recovery protocols in the sport. As Bennick focuses on his rehabilitation, the AMA Pro Motocross series will continue without one of its promising young talents.
