Denno Maintains Strong Performance in SMX Next Qualifying Events Ahead of Final Birmingham Showdown
Rider Denno (5-2-1) remains a formidable contender this supercross season, consistently finishing in the top five across all three SMX Next qualifying events. He is joined in this achievement by Landen Gordon, who recorded finishes of 3-3-2.
In a strategic move, Denno opted to forgo participation in the Ricky Carmichael Amateur Daytona Supercross to concentrate on the SMX Next series. “I’m skipping out on the amateur stuff, just focusing on the Future [SMX Next] stuff for now,” he stated, emphasizing his commitment to the upcoming competitions.
Denno provided insights into his decision, noting the discrepancies between full-sized supercross practice and the modified tracks at certain events. “The track is a lot different from what we’ve been practicing… Last year, it wasn’t a great track. So, right now, I’m focusing ahead to my next event,” he explained.
The upcoming Birmingham SX SMX Next event on March 21 marks the final qualifying race before the Championship finale in Philadelphia on April 25, where Denno has already secured his spot.
“Mentally, I’m in a good spot right now,” he concluded, expressing optimism for the challenges ahead as the competition intensifies.
