Wilson Secures Second in AUS-X Open, Eyes Australian SX Title

Dean Wilson delivered a strong performance at the Boost Mobile Australian Supercross Championship over the weekend, finishing second in the AUS-X Open finals behind fellow Honda rider Jett Lawrence. With this result, Wilson is now poised to capture the 450cc Australian Supercross title in the upcoming final round.

Post-race, Wilson discussed the event with Racer X’s Steve Matthes. Reflecting on the day’s challenges, he noted, “My start wasn’t amazing, but I found some gaps and moved up to P2. With four laps to go, I decided to play it safe and prepare for the next race.”

In the first moto, Wilson faced a difficult start but skillfully navigated through the pack, achieving a second-place finish. He remarked, “The dirt was really hard, and you have to respect it. I just did what I had to do tonight.”

In the second moto, despite another less-than-ideal start, he managed to maintain a competitive position, finishing behind Hunter Lawrence and Matt Moss. “I played it smart and cruised when I needed to. With Hunter in second, I secured second overall,” Wilson added, highlighting the importance of strategy on the challenging track.

Wilson also praised Matt Moss, stating, “Matt was unbelievable. He’s a hard-pack specialist and rode really well. I was happy for him.”

As the championship nears its conclusion, Wilson’s focus remains steadfast on securing the title, building on his current form as the competition intensifies.
