Deegan Clinches Second-Straight 250SX West Championship, Sets Sights on Future
Haiden Deegan has solidified his status in motocross by clinching his second consecutive 250SX West Championship, an achievement that marks his sixth title across supercross, motocross, and the SMX Playoffs. This latest victory comes with several races still remaining in the season, further emphasizing his dominance in the 250 class.
Despite an AMA ruling that stripped him of a Birmingham victory due to a track violation, Deegan’s performance remains impeccable, as he celebrates what he considers his seventh consecutive win.
In a recently completed round in St. Louis, Deegan demonstrated his prowess, compelling competitors like Cole Davies to shift focus from winning to gaining points within their own standings. Davies, who is currently on a winning streak in the 250SX East series, acknowledged after the heat race that his goal was not to contend with Deegan, highlighting the gap in performance between the two riders.
Deegan’s recent remarks reflect both satisfaction and personal growth. “I’m stoked to win it and especially win it three rounds early… this was a good thing,” he stated. He underscored the importance of his continued competition in the 250 class, noting that it allowed him to refine crucial skills, particularly through the whoops section, which he identified as pivotal to his success.
As Deegan prepares for the next phase of his career, his current form underlines a previously elusive mastery of supercross, affirming his readiness to transition to the 450 class in the near future.
