Chase Sexton will miss the second round of the 2025 AMA Pro Motocross Championship at Hangtown, following a crash during the season opener at Fox Raceway in Pala, California. The defending 450 Pro Motocross Champion did not finish Moto 1 and did not participate in Moto 2, prompting concerns over his readiness for the remainder of the season.
Despite securing the second-fastest qualifying time on his KTM 450 SX-F Factory Edition, Sexton experienced an early fall that drastically altered his race. In a statement, he confirmed, “I’m definitely banged up after last weekend’s crash but thankfully there’s nothing broken, so that’s a positive. I’ve made the decision to sit out this weekend’s race and focus on getting back to 100 percent.”
Team Manager Ian Harrison expressed disappointment over Sexton’s absence, emphasizing the team’s commitment to rider safety. “Chase showed phenomenal speed and strength at the opening round. Unfortunately, after feeling the aftereffects of that crash, Chase has decided, with the team’s support, to sit out this weekend. The health and safety of our athletes is our number one priority at Red Bull KTM Factory Racing.”
With Sexton sidelined, he faces a significant points deficit as he eye a potential return later in the season.
