Joey Savatgy to Miss Birmingham Supercross Following Injury

Joey Savatgy will not compete in the Birmingham Supercross this weekend due to a broken medial cuneiform in his left foot, sustained during the Indianapolis race. Despite his efforts to ride and participate, Savatgy confirmed that pain and safety concerns prevented him from racing.

Currently sitting sixth in the 450SX standings, Savatgy has achieved a season-best finish of fifth place on two occasions, at San Diego and Daytona, through the first nine rounds of the season.

In a video statement, Savatgy expressed his disappointment, stating, “I tried to give it a go today… unfortunately, it’s just not something that feels safe for me to do, and I’m still in a lot of pain.” He acknowledged his attempts to prepare, including the use of specialized gear provided by Gaerne, but ultimately decided against competing.

Looking ahead, he remains hopeful for a return at the upcoming Detroit event, saying, “God willing, I will be ready to go for Detroit.”

The motorsports community will be watching closely as Savatgy recovers.
