Jordon Smith Undergoes Shoulder Surgery Following SMX Finale Crash

Las Vegas, NV — Jordon Smith of the Triumph Factory Racing Team has provided an update following his significant crash during qualifying at the SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) finale. Despite sustaining a dislocated shoulder, Smith competed in the evening program, finishing 10th and 7th in his races, securing sixth overall at the event and seventh in the 250SMX championship standings.

In a recent Instagram video, Smith announced that he underwent surgery to address rotator cuff and labrum damage sustained during the incident. He acknowledged the injury’s severity, stating, “The doctors felt like I needed to get it fixed to get back to 100 percent and ensure that there are no more dislocations.”

The surgery took place five weeks ago, and Smith is actively rehabilitating, utilizing a hyperbaric chamber to expedite his recovery. However, he indicated that he will miss the early portion of the upcoming Monster Energy AMA Supercross season.

“I’m on the mend now, trying to do everything I can to get back as quick as possible,” Smith noted. “As of right now, it looks like I’m going to miss the first part of the supercross season, but I hope to be back soon.”

Looking ahead, the Triumph Factory Racing Team is set to field riders Austin Forkner and Jalek Swoll in the 250SX class, while Mikkel Haarup will race the TF 450-X in the AMA Pro Motocross Championship.

The team expressed their support in the Instagram post: “Despite the injury, the North Carolina native dug deep and delivered a heroic P6 in the night show. After further assessment, surgery was deemed the best path to ensure a full and speedy recovery. Get well soon, Jordon—we can’t wait to see you back on the bike!”
