Prado Makes Pro Motocross Debut, Secures Sixth at Fox Raceway
The AMA Pro Motocross Championship commenced at Fox Raceway, showcasing a competitive field with several top riders returning from injuries sustained during the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series. Notably, Jorge Prado, a four-time FIM Motocross World Champion, made his anticipated Pro Motocross debut aboard the Monster Energy Kawasaki KX450.
Prado, who recently recovered from a shoulder injury that limited his performance in the 450SX class, finished sixth overall with race results of 7-6. Following his performance, Prado expressed a mix of disappointment and optimism.
“I expected more, but realistically, it’s fair that we struggled,” Prado stated. “I’ve never raced outdoors on the Kawasaki, and we only had four weeks to build a setup. Still, I’m a racer who always wants to be battling up front. The season has started, and we’ve gathered valuable feedback for improvement.”
In his reflections, he noted challenges in the first moto but showed incremental progress in the second. “I was catching the two guys ahead in the final laps, but it wasn’t quite enough. The second moto was P6—a little better than the first one. Small steps,” he concluded.
Prado remains committed to improving as the season progresses, underscoring the competitive mindset of a world champion even in the face of adversity.
