Houston Supercross Preview: Jorge Prado’s Unique Challenge
As qualifying kicks off at the Houston round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, all eyes are on Jorge Prado, who faces a pivotal moment in his career. Primarily competing in California throughout his 450SX tenure, today marks Prado’s first race outside of the Golden State and his debut at an indoor venue.
Prado’s previous nine 450SX starts have all been at outdoor tracks, and his last appearance ended in injury at the Anaheim 2 SX last year, where he crashed during qualifying and subsequently required shoulder surgery. Today’s event not only serves as a potential redemption but also presents an unfamiliar racing environment.
Complicating matters is the fact that this Houston round is organized as a Triple Crown event. However, Prado is not a stranger to this format. He previously participated in the 2024 Anaheim 2 Triple Crown, where he garnered finishes of 12th, 8th, and 15th, placing 12th overall.
Known for his strong starts, Prado has improved his holeshot abilities this season on the KTM 450 SX-F, raising expectations for his performance in this three-race sprint format. As the anticipation builds, fans are eager to see if Prado can secure a race win this evening.
