Hangtown Motocross Classic Report
Rancho Cordova, CA — The Hangtown Motocross Classic delivered intense competition under punishing 102-degree temperatures at Prairie City SVRA Park. New York’s Justin Cooper showcased resilience, securing third place with 4-2 moto scores.
“The heat was no joke,” Cooper stated post-race. “I felt good on the bike, but the warmth was a real challenge. It’s something we don’t often face, and it certainly tested everyone.”
Looking ahead, Cooper expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming race at Thunder Valley Motocross Park in Lakewood, Colorado, where he has consistently excelled. “I thrive at that track. I’ve only missed the podium once since turning pro, finishing fourth in 2022,” he noted. “It’s physically demanding and challenging at elevation, but it’s a unique event that stands out for me.”
Following the Thunder Valley round, the AMA Pro MX series will shift east to High Point Raceway in Mount Morris, Pennsylvania. Despite past success, Cooper remains cautious: “I’ve had a couple of big crashes there. It’s tricky and technical—I respect the track, but it’s not one I look forward to racing.”
The competitive landscape will continue to evolve as the series moves to Southwick, Massachusetts, known for its challenging sandy conditions. “Southwick is physically demanding,” Cooper remarked. “Finding a good flow is essential; it’s crucial not to overexert yourself.”
With races stacking up, Cooper’s focus remains sharp as he prepares for the next challenges in the AMA Pro MX Championship.
