Cooper Makes Gains in SMX Standings Amid Team Challenges
In a notable performance at the recent SMX event, Cooper sits second in the standings, trailing his Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing teammate, Cooper Webb, by just 14 points. This positioning underscores Cooper’s ascendant form as he approaches the SMX Playoffs.
Despite the pressure of competition, Cooper remains focused on race execution. "Not really, it’s cool but at the same time, doing my job on the weekends is going to help that," he stated. "So, taking it race by race and really just trying to be on the podium where I’m at today."
The second moto posed significant challenges for the team when Eli Tomac faced a mechanical failure in the first moto. In a swift response, the team opted for a complete motor swap across their 450 bikes, which allowed Cooper to capitalize on the new equipment just in time for his next race.
With these developments, Cooper is well-positioned to potentially seize the lead as the SMX Playoffs approach, showcasing both individual skill and team resilience amid the rigors of competitive motocross.
