Hill Prepares for Houston SX Amid Competitive Field and Unique Format
As the Supercross series progresses, rider Justin Hill of Team Tedder reflects on his team’s dynamic and the upcoming challenges of the Triple Crown format at this weekend’s Houston SX. Hill emphasizes the contrast between his independent team and factory-backed competitors, noting, “We don’t do a lot in-house,” which limits their access to specialized parts. However, he appreciates the camaraderie within his team, calling mechanic Jesse O’Brien “an ace in the hole” and highlighting the familial bond he shares with the Tedders.
Hill expressed enthusiasm for the Houston race, expecting a chaotic atmosphere given the absence of free practice. “Qualifying is just going to be bonkers,” he stated. Following Houston, the schedule includes events in Glendale, Seattle, Arlington, and Daytona.
Analyzing the competition, Hill considers Eli Tomac to be a standout, alongside other formidable rival Chase Sexton. He remains optimistic about his speed compared to elite riders, attributing his struggles primarily to race starts, saying, “I just suck at starting these races.”
As the season unfolds, Hill’s insights provide a glimpse into the complexities of navigating a highly competitive landscape while maintaining the strong bonds that define his team.
