Roczen Triumphs at Detroit Supercross Amid Challenging Conditions
Detroit, MI – Ken Roczen secured a pivotal win at the Detroit Supercross, showcasing mastery over the notoriously tricky track. Navigating the technical features and rutted terrain, Roczen emphasized strategy over speed in his approach to the race. “I knew Chase and Hunter were behind me,” he stated. “So, I focused on hitting my marks. It’s a long race, and I didn’t want to tighten up.”
Despite initial concerns about feeling overly confident during qualifying, Roczen maintained composure during the main event. He recounted a critical moment in the heat race where he nearly lost control in the whoops, reinforcing his decision to adopt a measured mindset. “I told my mechanic before the race that I wanted to approach this in a mellow manner. It takes just one miscalculation to lose everything,” he explained.
This victory marks Roczen’s first multiple-win season in Supercross since 2021, reaffirming his resilience and adaptability at nearly 32 years old. “I’m doing whatever my heart desires,” Roczen noted, reflecting on his approach to balancing racing and family responsibilities. “Despite losing points earlier this season, I kept reminding myself that I’m riding well.”
With seven races remaining, Roczen remains optimistic about the championship landscape. “It’s too early to declare anything over. There’s still a lot of racing left, and points to gain,” he remarked. As he continues to refine his technique, Roczen’s ability to adapt will be crucial as the season progresses.
