Aus-X Open: Jett Lawrence Dominates in Melbourne

The Aus-X Open in Melbourne served as the highlight of the Boost Mobil Australian Supercross series, drawing an impressive crowd of approximately 30,000. Honda HRC’s Jett Lawrence delivered a commanding performance, rebounding from a lackluster outing in Paris SX by sweeping his heat race, the Superpole, and both 10-lap main events.

“I had a plan of how I hoped things would go, and it pretty much all became reality,” Lawrence stated post-race. He attributed his success to strong starts and effective lap execution, emphasizing the importance of enjoyment during competition. “As long as I get good starts, execute my laps and have fun, it’ll be a good race,” he added.

Veteran privateer Matt Moss showcased a strong performance, achieving holeshots in both main events and leading early laps, proving a formidable challenge to Lawrence. However, once Lawrence gained the lead, his dominance became apparent. Notably, he developed a 3-4 rhythm lane alongside the start, showcasing his technical skill.

Lawrence’s ability to navigate obstacles—particularly his speed through the whoops—was significant, with one overjump early in the race demonstrating his quick adaptation to the track’s conditions. Overall, it was a stellar performance for the 18-year-old, solidifying his status in the series and leaving fans eager for future developments.
