Supercross Update: Insights from an Athlete Transitioning Between Brands
In a recent interview, a prominent Supercross rider discussed key developments from his tumultuous 2025 season and his upcoming transition from Yamaha to Kawasaki. Notably, he mentioned that his first ride on the Kawasaki is scheduled for early December, despite having previous experience with the brand in Canada and Europe.
Reflecting on his 2025 Supercross performance, he acknowledged a difficult start, where he struggled to qualify for main events on the 450. This led to riding beyond his limits, resulting in crashes and a head injury that sidelined him for several months. He also underwent knee surgery to address longstanding issues, which he combined with his recovery period. “I came into outdoors fresh halfway through the season and kind of rebounded my year,” he explained, noting significant progress as the season advanced. His performance in the SMX playoffs at the end of the year brought him renewed confidence and financial reward.
The rider praised the MX6 Team for their support during the offseason, which facilitated participation in several races. These events included local competitions, such as the notable Cody Gragg race in Tennessee where he secured a victory on a two-stroke. He commented on the challenges of adapting to different bikes, saying, “Sometimes I am hot on a two-stroke and sometimes they are foreign to me.” The competitive atmosphere carried over to events in West Virginia, where he faced off against Canadian competitors Jess Pettis and Sebastian Racine, adding an exciting “America versus Canada” rivalry.
Looking ahead, the rider expressed enthusiasm for an upcoming race in Germany and recently added a Paris event to his agenda, a welcome opportunity following Pettis’s injury. As he prepares for this transition and new competitions, the focus remains on adapting quickly to the Kawasaki and leveraging his cumulative experiences from the past season.
