Max Anstie’s Stellar Performance Preceded Emergency Surgery
Just days after a commendable third-place finish in the 250SX main event at Seattle SX, Max Anstie of Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing underwent emergency appendix surgery. The surgery followed a post-race cough that Anstie noted during interviews, raising concerns about his health.
In the Seattle event, Anstie secured the holeshot and led laps before finishing strong, marking his return to the podium for the first time since winning the Anaheim 1 SX opener. Over the first six rounds of the 250SX West Division Championship, his finishes include 1st, 5th, 6th, 6th, 8th, and 3rd. Currently, Anstie is positioned second in the championship standings, trailing leader Haiden Deegan by 35 points, while maintaining a narrow one-point lead over Michael Mosiman and Ryder DiFrancesco, who are tied for third.
The series will continue with the Birmingham SX East/West Showdown on March 21.
Anstie’s wife, Milly, shared insights into his condition via Instagram, highlighting the severity of his symptoms leading up to surgery. She commended his resilience in competing despite his discomfort, reflecting on his character with respect to the challenges faced during the race weekend.
Max Anstie’s situation serves as a reminder of the physical demands placed on riders in the competitive world of motorsports.
