Anstie Reflects on Recovery and Racing in SuperMotocross World Championship
In a recent update, 32-year-old British motocross racer Max Anstie provided insight into his ongoing recovery and participation in the SuperMotocross World Championship. Currently based in Cairo, Georgia, Anstie highlighted the shift in the sport’s training hubs from the West to the East Coast, attributing this change to the rising concentration of teams and riders in the area.
“Out here, it’s all about riding and training,” Anstie stated, emphasizing the focused environment surrounding him. He is surrounded by both seasoned riders like Cooper Webb and Justin Cooper, and younger talent, which helps maintain his motivation as he continues to learn and adapt to supercross.
Anstie’s journey back to competitive form has been challenging. He sustained a fractured leg in Birmingham while leading the championship, an injury that initially required no surgery according to doctors. However, he faced increasing pain which led to a subsequent operation. “It ended up being nearly a six-month thing by the time I got back to racing,” he remarked, but noted that he remains resilient, viewing this period as a learning experience shaped by his tenure in the sport.
His performance in the SuperMotocross World Championship has seen him finish with results of 13th, 9th, and 17th, reflecting a slow return to competitive form. Despite these results, Anstie expressed satisfaction with simply being back on the track after a prolonged recovery.
“Let’s just stay healthy for a while,” he concluded, signaling his commitment to returning to peak condition and competing effectively in the coming races.
