Grindstone Friesen Group Kawasaki Announces Key Changes Ahead of 2026 Supercross Season

Grindstone Friesen Group Kawasaki has unveiled its strategic plans for the 2026 Supercross season, emphasizing a robust preseason program and significant rider updates.

The team initially lined up Max Sanford, Dylan Walsh, and Reven Gordon for preseason training. However, the organization has made notable adjustments. Dylan Walsh has officially parted ways with Grindstone Friesen, having signed a multi-year contract with Factory KTM Australia. Team owner Cari Schehr expressed pride in Walsh’s journey with the team, acknowledging his foundational role since its inception nearly five years ago. “This was a difficult decision,” Schehr stated, highlighting Walsh’s desire to be closer to his family in New Zealand as a driving factor for the move.

In light of Walsh’s departure, Grindstone has secured Joshua Varize for the upcoming season. Schehr noted his long-term familiarity with Varize, stating, “I’ve known Joshua since he was 10 years old and have watched him ride and progress throughout the seasons.”

In a challenging development, Max Sanford sustained significant injuries, including dislocations and fractures at the L4 and L5 levels of his spine, during a training crash at Lake Elsinore. Despite the seriousness of his injuries, Sanford is reported to be recovering well, with plans for a return to competition in the latter half of the 2026 season.

The Grindstone Friesen Group stands committed to supporting both Walsh in his new endeavor and Sanford in his recovery as the team aims for a strong showing in the upcoming season.
