Michael Mosiman has faced a tumultuous start to the 2023 AMA Pro Motocross Championship, securing finishes of eighth, tenth, and 14th across three rounds. Despite these results, the California native’s performance reflects significant progress following a string of injuries that nearly ended his career.
Competing on a top-tier factory team, Mosiman’s return to racing has shown glimpses of his potential. At the series opener, Mosiman scored an 11th in the first moto and eighth overall—a commendable comeback after nearly two years away from the sport.
Last weekend at the Hangtown Motocross Classic, Mosiman demonstrated improved form. He finished fifth in the first moto after a strong charge, showcasing both speed and fitness. In the second moto, he climbed to fourth position and was in contention for a podium finish before a crash with just three laps remaining. Despite the setback, he managed to recover and finished the moto in 17th place.
In a recent interview, Mosiman reflected on his push for a podium, acknowledging that his eagerness contributed to the unfortunate crash. “I was going all out to secure that spot,” he stated. “I thought I could make it happen, but sometimes you push too hard.”
As he continues to adapt and regain his competitive edge, Mosiman remains a rider to watch in the coming rounds of the championship.
