Mitchell Oldenburg Withdraws from AMA Pro Motocross Championship
Pittsburgh, PA — Mitchell Oldenburg, rider for the Liqui Moly Beta Racing Team, has officially announced his withdrawal from the AMA Pro Motocross Championship this summer due to a hip injury sustained during the Monster Energy AMA Supercross finale.
In a candid Instagram update, Oldenburg detailed the circumstances surrounding his injury. Following a challenging crash in a practice session at Salt Lake City, he initially planned to participate in three Pro Motocross events. However, a subsequent incident at home led to a hip dislocation and a fracture in the pelvis’s back socket area.
Despite these setbacks, Oldenburg reported that surgery is not necessary. “I have to be off of it for three weeks and then we’ll revisit,” he stated, expressing relief that the condition was not more severe. Oldenburg finished the Supercross season ranked 14th in the 450SX standings and concluded with a season-best ninth place in his final event in Colorado.
Oldenburg has not competed in a Pro Motocross event since 2019, making this withdrawal particularly poignant for the racer aiming to return to form ahead of the SuperMotocross World Championship playoffs later this fall.
He concluded his update with optimism, stating, “Super thankful it’s not worse… we’ll see you guys at the races soon.”
