Hunter Lawrence Shines at Motocross of Nations, Completes Perfect Day Despite Challenges
In a standout performance at the 2025 Motocross of Nations (MXoN), Hunter Lawrence delivered a dominant 1-1 finish across two races, securing crucial points for his team. However, it was not without its trials, as he recorded two crashes in his first moto, reflecting the unpredictable nature of the event.
Lawrence’s success significantly contributed to his team’s victory in front of a home crowd in the United States. Despite the accolades, the Australian rider expressed a pragmatic perspective on his performance. “It was a good day, but it definitely wasn’t my best day,” Lawrence stated. “The first moto was… I don’t think I’ve ever fallen in two races that I can remember in the last four years, in the same race twice.”
The second moto showcased a stronger outing for Lawrence, affirming his potential as a top contender this season. “The last moto was good. It was a really, really memorable, special weekend, as all Motocross of Nations normally are,” he added, capturing both the thrill and camaraderie inherent to this elite competition.
Entering the event as one of the favored teams intensified the pressure. “I definitely think there’s more pressure this year,” he acknowledged, while maintaining a measured approach. “We’re either going to win it or we won’t. It is what it is.”
Lawrence highlighted the early challenges faced by his team, particularly observing Belgium’s strong start in the first moto. “Kyle went down at the first turn, and we were looking at that and kind of scratching our heads going, ‘Oh, this doesn’t look too good for us,’” he recounted. Their resilience proved vital, ultimately allowing them to contend closely with France and the United States for the championship.
The MXoN continues to be a defining moment in many riders’ careers, and Lawrence’s performance not only underlined his growing stature in the sport but also underscored the unpredictable and often dramatic nature of motocross racing.
