Lamson Celebrated as Grand Marshal for Hangtown Motocross Classic
Rancho Cordova, California—Jeff Lamson, a motocross legend, has been named Grand Marshal for the Michael’s Reno Powersports Hangtown Motocross Classic, which marks Round 18 of the SMX World Championship on May 31.
Lamson’s illustrious career began in 1988, and he achieved his first victory at the Hangtown Classic in 1992 while riding for Suzuki. After a stint with Honda, he returned to the 125cc division in 1994, amassing significant accolades during his seven-year tenure with the brand. His career is highlighted by three notable victories at the Hangtown Classic (1996, 1998, and 2000) and a historic win as the first racer to capture a moto on a 125cc motorcycle at the Motocross of Nations.
Over his 19-season career from 1988 to 2007, Lamson completed an impressive 108 starts in the 125cc class, solidifying his status within the sport.
Following retirement, Lamson transitioned into management, notably with Yamaha Star Racing, where he played a key role in the development of champions Jeremy Martin and Cooper Webb.
