Jeffrey Herlings and Red Bull KTM Part Ways After Historic Alliance

In a significant shift within the motocross world, Jeffrey Herlings has concluded his tenure with Red Bull KTM, marking the end of a mutual journey that began 16 years ago. The Dutch rider joined the KTM factory team in 2010 at just 15 years old and has since established himself as a dominant figure in the sport.

Herlings boasts an impressive record of five FIM World Championships—three in the MX2 category and two in MXGP—along with a record 112 Grand Prix victories across both classes. He transitioned to the premier MXGP class in 2017 and continued to notch wins and titles, despite facing injury setbacks.

Notably, Herlings claimed 61 of his GP wins on the KTM 250 SX-F, solidifying his status as the most decorated KTM rider in MX2 history. He later achieved championships in MXGP in 2018 and 2021 while maintaining a consistent performance with the KTM 450 SX-F.

Reports indicate that Herlings is poised to sign with Honda HRC MXGP, where he will partner with two-time MX2 Champion Tom Vialle, who has already confirmed his deal with the team.

KTM shared their gratitude in a press release, highlighting the profound impact Herlings has had on the organization. They expressed appreciation for his dedication and unique talent, reflecting on a journey filled with both triumphs and challenges.

Herlings’ departure from KTM not only reshapes his career but also marks a pivotal moment in the history of the team, to which he has been an integral part.
