Date: Recent
Location: Bariloche, Argentina

In a commanding display at the YPF MXGP of Argentina, Sacha Coenen secured the top position in both Free Practice and Qualifying Race, reinforcing his prowess in MX2. The Belgian rider maintained his lead throughout, finishing nearly five seconds ahead of the competition. Reigning World Champion Simon Längenfelder of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing trailed by seven-tenths in both timed sessions, while Camden McLellan from Triumph Factory Racing took third in time practice.

In an impressive debut, Janis Reisulis of Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 not only grabbed the holeshot but also maintained a strong presence before yielding to Coenen midway through the race. Reisulis was eventually overtaken by participants including Farres and Valin, finishing a commendable sixth, ahead of Honda HRC Petronas’ Valerio Lata.

Längenfelder faced early challenges, colliding with Kay Karssemakers and suffering additional setbacks from a crash that hindered his race strategy. Ultimately, despite his misfortunes, he demonstrated resilience by unlapping himself later in the race, hinting at potential competitiveness for the main events.

Noel Zanocz made waves with a strong debut for Venrooy KTM Racing but struggled as McLellan advanced past him. Zanocz ultimately finished in 14th place. Julius Mikula and Cas Valk rounded out the top ten with eighth and ninth positions, respectively, showing promising performances.

Coenen’s results place him at the forefront going into the main events, sporting the red plate for just the second time in his career. Längenfelder now faces a ten-point deficit as the series progresses.

Key Quotes:
