2025 450SMX Playoffs Set for High Stakes
Date: October 1, 2025
As the 450SMX playoffs approach, Justin Cooper stands out with 25 points, a testament to his remarkable consistency throughout the season. Cooper, having raced every round of the 2025 season, has established himself as a podium contender both indoors and outdoors. His performance raises the question: can his steady approach lead to a lucrative million-dollar prize at season’s end?
In contrast, reigning 450 Supercross champion Cooper Webb has slipped to fourth place in the standings following knee surgery that sidelined him after the RedBud round. Chase Sexton, who initially positioned himself in second place after Supercross, has tumbled to sixth after a series of disappointing results.
Notably, Jett Lawrence, who missed significant Supercross action due to his own knee injury, has surged to second in points after only contesting two rounds of the Pro Motocross. His rapid ascent emphasizes the dynamic nature of this year’s competition.
RJ Hampshire made his 450 debut during the Pro Motocross nationals, achieving a commendable tenth place in the standings, thereby securing a playoff seed. Ken Roczen is set to return from an ankle injury; however, Aaron Plessinger, Jason Anderson, and Colt Nichols will be absent from the playoffs, creating additional opportunities in the Wild Card race, where five riders will qualify.
It’s essential to note that participants ranked outside the top 20 will be required to compete in the Wild Card race for all three playoff rounds, adding further complexity to this year’s championship battle.
