250SX Class: Deegan Clinches Championship in Denver Showdown
In a pivotal round of the 250SX Class held in Denver, Haiden Deegan secured the championship title, expanding his lead over teammate Cole Davies. Entering the race with a 17-point advantage, Deegan effectively ended the competition with a strategic performance that showcased his aggressive racing style.
Cole Davies, who started strong by claiming the holeshot, initially maintained a pace suggesting a potential third consecutive win. However, midway through the race, Deegan surpassed Michael Mosiman for second and began closing in on Davies. As the race approached its conclusion, Deegan made decisive moves to take the lead. With just two laps remaining, he executed a critical pass, causing Davies to slide off into a berm. Davies managed to remount but finished in fifth place, while Deegan’s victory solidified his championship status due to a 25-point lead.
Julien Beaumer of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing secured the second-place position after a remarkable recovery from an eighth-place start. Garrett Marchbanks of Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki completed the podium, also demonstrating a strong charge from ninth.
The final showdown for the 250SX Class features Deegan, Davies, and the Eastern Divisional competitors in the Dave Coombs Sr. 250SX Class East/West Showdown next Saturday night.
Key Quote from Haiden Deegan:
"First of all, I want to congratulate Cole; he’s been riding really good. Two laps to go, I wanted that win. This championship means a lot to me because people doubted me. They’re just mad that I’m him and they’ve got to deal with it… I found an opening and took the chance. Good job to Cole and a good race."
With this result, the final round promises to be an exciting culmination of the season as Deegan aims to further cement his championship status.
