Sexton Aims for a Career Reset Ahead of 2026 Departure
In a candid reflection on his career trajectory, professional motocross racer Chase Sexton expressed a desire to recapture the joy and energy he experienced in his youth as he prepares for the second half of his career. Speaking to media, Sexton, 23, acknowledged feeling disconnected from the thrill of racing over recent years.
“I have kind of gotten away from just how I felt as a kid,” Sexton stated, emphasizing his passion for riding. “I still enjoy riding my dirt bike… I think when I say reset, it’s about finding that teenage version of myself,” he added, underscoring a commitment to reinvigorate his approach for the upcoming season.
Addressing his decision not to return to KTM for the 2026 season, Sexton described the experience as “not that much fun,” but acknowledged the supportive role of team members like Roger De Coster. “Roger helped a lot… I felt like that was one person I could go to for an honest answer,” he explained.
Sexton noted that despite mutual respect, differences in personality influenced his decision to part ways. “It was time to move on. You only get so many years as a racer, and you owe it to yourself to make the most of them.” As he pivots towards a renewed focus, Sexton’s commitment to rediscovering joy in racing signals a pivotal shift in his career strategy.
