In a compelling recent interview, a top motocross athlete reflected on their performance following two challenging races, emphasizing both technical adjustments and the impact of controversial officiating.
The rider acknowledged a need for enhanced bike setup, particularly in suspension. “We’re making a lot of changes,” he stated. “I’m trying to get a little more hold up; it’s been close to bottoming out, which has been hindering us. However, there have been significant improvements compared to last weekend, and I expect better results in Indy.”
Addressing the contentious red light situation that arose during a previous event, he expressed frustration. “It confused everyone,” he remarked. “For my own safety and my opponent’s safety, rules should be clearer. Seeing rule changes after the race felt unfair.” Despite this, he credited rival Pierce Brown’s performance and accepted his second-place finish while pushing for a review of the rules for consistency.
When asked about his outlook after achieving a second and a fourth in the early season, he reflected positively: “Results-wise, it’s been good, but I need to learn from my mistakes—racing too hard caused issues in the sand.”
With the upcoming Triple Crown in Indianapolis, he expressed confidence in his fitness and start performance, noting, “I just need more pace. If we can resolve the hold-up issue, we can aim for even better results.”
