Daytona Supercross: Webb and Roczen Face Pressure Ahead of Indy
Daytona Beach, FL—Cooper Webb continues to struggle at daytona, securing a fourth-place finish in Saturday’s Supercross event, marking his second consecutive race without a podium. The two-time champion was unable to close the gap to leaders Eli Tomac and Ken Roczen during the race, ultimately finishing behind them, which raises concerns about his championship ambitions.
“I’m here to win. Anything less is not what I’m aiming for,” Webb stated, noting the increasing pressure as the series progresses. With Roczen and Tomac establishing a significant lead—19 points over Webb—this weekend’s Indianapolis round is crucial for Webb and Roczen. If Tomac and Roczen continue to dominate, the battle for the title could narrow sharply.
In the 250 class, Seth Hammaker celebrated his first win of the season after recovering from a challenging previous race. Leading from start to finish, Hammaker delivered a strong performance despite a crash in qualifying that left him battling injuries.
“I just focused on being smooth and nailing the sand sections. That was key to maintaining my speed,” he reflected on his strategy. His ability to manage the track conditions ultimately secured him the victory, a promising sign as the season progresses.
As the series heads to Indianapolis, the outcomes for Webb and Roczen will significantly shape the championship narrative, while Hammaker’s success in the 250 class highlights the relentless competition also present in the lower ranks.
