Jett Lawrence: A Historic Season in AMA Motocross
At just 21 years old, Australian motocross standout Jett Lawrence is solidifying his status as a formidable force in the sport. In his transition from the 250cc class, where he secured multiple titles and numerous wins in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross and AMA Pro Motocross Championship, Lawrence has seamlessly ascended to the premier 450 class.
In 2023, Lawrence made headlines by achieving a historic perfect season in the AMA Pro Motocross Championship, becoming only the third rider in history to accomplish this feat. His flawless run included victories in all 20 motos during the season, placing him alongside legends Ricky Carmichael and James Stewart.
Key Statistics:
- Overall Wins: 18 out of 19 starts
- Moto Wins: 33 out of 38 total moto starts
- Current Rankings: Tied with Kent Howerton for 10th on the all-time premier class AMA Motocross wins list
Despite a stellar performance, Lawrence experienced his first-ever third-place finish in the 450 Class at the Hangtown Motocross Classic, where he placed behind Eli Tomac and Aaron Plessinger. This race marked his third worst moto finish, accompanied by just two second-place finishes and a sixth-place finish later in the season.
Lawrence’s only overall loss occurred at Hangtown last year, ending a remarkable streak of 24 consecutive moto wins. As of now, he holds an impressive record of 18 for 19 in career overalls, underscoring his dominance in the sport.
As Lawrence continues to compete on his CRF450R, the motocross world watches closely, anticipating the next chapter in what promises to be a legendary career.
