Team Honda Motoblouz SR Motul Announces New Signing for 2026 MXGP Season
In a strategic move for the upcoming 2026 season, Team Honda Motoblouz SR Motul has confirmed the signing of Thibault Benistant, who will partner with Kevin Horgmo in the MXGP class. This shift marks a significant transition for Benistant, a former MX2 competitor, following his 23rd birthday.
Benistant has an impressive record, including two European championships, three Grand Prix victories, and nine individual MX2 race wins, along with a total of eighteen GP podium finishes. His familiarity with the Honda team and its training regimen stems from a productive winter spent training under the guidance of coach Yves Demaria, alongside teammate Horgmo.
Key Quotes:
Thibault Benistant expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “After so many years in blue and in the MX2 category, it’s time for me to change colors for this move to MXGP. I’ve been working with the riders and staff of the Honda SR team throughout the season in training, and it went very well.”
Team Manager Josse Sallefranque commented on the acquisition: “Very happy to see Thibault join us… The fact that he’s a French rider is excellent for many of our partners. Thibault has great qualities that should allow him to achieve great performances in MXGP.”
Yves Demaria added, “We are very happy to welcome Thibault to the team… They spent seven or eight months together, and their rapport is important for the team’s cohesion.”
With both riders being 23 and 25 years old, respectively, the team aims for a strong performance in the French and World Championships in the forthcoming season, building on the momentum established earlier this year before Horgmo’s injury. The combination of Benistant’s talent and Horgmo’s experience is expected to yield positive results for Team Honda Motoblouz SR Motul.
