Gajser Returns as MXGP Heads to Uddevalla

Tim Gajser makes his long-anticipated return to the MXGP this weekend at Uddevalla, Sweden, for the 16th round of the world motocross championship. The Slovenian, who has not competed since round six in Switzerland due to a crash, previously led the championship with a nearly 50-point advantage. After weeks of rehabilitation and training, Gajser is set to rejoin the Honda HRC team, prioritizing health and readiness for the demanding race environment.

Joining Gajser will be teammate Ruben Fernandez, currently fourth in the championship standings, trailing third by 67 points. Fernandez aims to capitalize on the remaining five rounds to close the gap, despite expressing mixed feelings toward the rocky Swedish venue. "While Uddevalla isn’t one of my favourite tracks, I am looking forward to showcasing my speed again after a disappointing outing at Lommel. Good weather is forecasted, and I aim to score valuable points,” said Fernandez.

In the MX2 class, rookie Valerio Lata is determined to rebound after a challenging period, including a lackluster showing in the GP of Flanders. He remains optimistic about the Uddevalla track, which aligns more closely with his riding style. "I want to finish the year strongly and score as many points as possible,” Lata stated, highlighting his recent commitment to improving his sand riding.

Honda HRC leadership acknowledges the uncertainties surrounding Gajser’s return, noting that while his practice level appears strong, competitive racing presents a different challenge. “We have high hopes for Tim’s performance, but our primary objective is his swift return to full race form,” the team remarked.

As the series progresses, all eyes will be on Gajser, Fernandez, and Lata as they aim to end the season on a high note, starting with a crucial performance in Sweden.
