450SMX Class Race Report: Tomac Claims Narrow Victory
In a fiercely contested 450SMX class race, Eli Tomac emerged victorious, narrowly holding off Hunter Lawrence and Ken Roczen in a thrilling showdown. Tomac’s win comes amidst intense pressure from both competitors, particularly in the closing laps.
Tomac reflected on the final moments of the race, stating, “Me and Ken [Roczen] had an unbelievable battle… During the last lap, I was focused on marking Kenny and didn’t realize Hunter was right there. I feel fortunate I held onto the lead.”
Hunter Lawrence finished just behind Tomac in second place. He expressed his mixed emotions: “It’s bittersweet when you’re so close… I shot my shot too fast on the last lap, but I backed out to avoid a dirty move. It was a great race overall.”
Completing the podium, Ken Roczen took third. He commented on his race strategy: “I went back and forth with Eli before losing some ground in the middle. Being on the podium is good, and while we want to win, it’s a solid point for the championship.”
The results underscore the competitive nature of the series, with Tomac leading a tightly packed field in the latest round of the championship. Moving forward, the focus will be on consistency as the season progresses.
