Tomac Dominates in Seattle, Maintains Title Chase
Eli Tomac secured his 56th career victory in the 450SMX class at the Seattle Supercross, overcoming challenging track conditions to finish 9.2 seconds ahead of second-place Cooper Webb. This win marks Tomac’s continued dominance as he navigated the gnarly course with finesse.
Cooper Webb, who claimed his third consecutive podium, expressed mixed feelings about his performance, acknowledging the difficulties presented by the Seattle track, particularly in the whoop sections. “Overall, it was fun, with a side of sketch,” Webb remarked, highlighting the brutality of the conditions. Despite tightening up mid-race, he finished successfully to maintain his form early in the season.
Filling out the podium was rookie Cooper, who marked his first top-three finish this season in third place. Notably, Hunter Lawrence recovered from earlier challenges to secure a fourth-place finish, while Chase Sexton rounded out the top five on his Monster Energy Kawasaki.
In the championship standings, Lawrence retains his lead, holding a narrow one-point advantage over Tomac. Webb and Ken Roczen are tied for third, trailing Lawrence by 11 points after Roczen finished in a disappointing 10th position, a notable drop of seven places from earlier in the race.
Tomac’s post-race comments underscored the technical demands of the Seattle track: “It’s a tough track to really get a hold of and get comfortable on. Glad to conquer it.” The implications of these results are substantial as riders prepare for the upcoming rounds, with the championship battle intensifying.
