Toyota Thunder Valley National Preview: Intense Competition Awaits
June 6, 2025 — The 2025 Pro Motocross season continues to heat up as it returns to Colorado for the Toyota Thunder Valley National, where the combination of soaring temperatures and elite competition sets the stage for an exhilarating race weekend.
Following the second race of the season, familiar contenders have emerged at the forefront of both the 450 and 250 classes. Team Honda HRC’s Jett Lawrence and Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Haiden Deegan, the current points leaders, aim to solidify their championship bids after dominant performances in the first two rounds.
Last year’s Colorado race saw Lawrence rebound from a disappointing outing, while Deegan showcased his determination en route to clinching the 2024 title. The dynamic between these two riders adds a compelling narrative, amplified by the anticipated return of local favorite Eli Tomac, who rides for Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing and is back after a hiatus since 2022. The competitive tension surrounding the Thunder Valley National promises a thrilling race day.
This year’s event will kick off on Friday, June 6, with the third round of the Women’s Motocross Championship, marking the halfway point of the AMA National Championship.
The main event—Toyota Thunder Valley National—starts on Saturday, June 7. The schedule includes free practice at 7 a.m. PT / 10 a.m. ET, followed by opening ceremonies at 11:30 a.m. PT / 2:30 p.m. ET. The first live network television broadcast will feature a two-hour block on NBC beginning at 1 p.m. PT / 4 p.m. ET, covering the first 250 Class moto and the second 450 Class moto. Comprehensive live streaming will be available on Peacock, starting with Race Day Live at 9 a.m. PT / 12 p.m. ET.
