Valentin Guillod Makes Supercross Debut at Daytona
In a noteworthy chapter of his career, Swiss motocross veteran Valentin Guillod made his debut in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series, competing at Daytona International Speedway. At 33 years old, this marked a significant milestone for the long-time participant in the FIM Motocross World Championship (MXGP), where he previously secured a ninth-place finish in the 450 Class championship.
Guillod faced a challenging start to his supercross campaign, missing the inaugural 250SX East Division Championship main event in Arlington. However, he qualified for the Daytona SX, finishing 14th in the 250SX main event.
Post-race, Guillod reflected on his achievement: “16 years after watching my first supercross in Anaheim 2010, I didn’t think I would qualify for a SX Main Event at 33 years old. It was a great experience; each session I learned and progressed. Daytona was more of a SMX-style track for me and my speed in the whoops was great. I’m going to continue to improve! Thanks to the Team and Sponsors for making a dream come true.”
Guillod’s debut reinforces the potential for seasoned motocross competitors to transition successfully into the supercross arena, asserting his determination for continued improvement and growth in the sport.
