San Diego SX Round Report: No Penalties, Friese Issued Warning

In the aftermath of the latest Monster Energy AMA Supercross event in San Diego, Race Direction reviewed multiple incidents from both the 250SX and 450SX main events. Notably, no penalties were applied for any on-track actions during the races.

However, Vince Friese was issued a warning and two license penalty points. He faced consequences for violating blue flag protocol on multiple occasions, concluding the 450SX main event in 19th place.

Race Direction Review Highlights:

  • 250SX: Reviewed Haiden Deegan’s pass on Max Anstie; no penalty issued.
  • 450SX:
    • Reviewed Chase Sexton’s start gate contact.
    • Assessed Ken Roczen’s off-track excursion.
    • Evaluated the pass between Sexton and Webb.

In an unprecedented move, Friese’s warning marks one of the rare instances of Race Direction interference concerning blue flag violations.

Haiden Deegan also faced scrutiny; he became the first rider to receive a point on his license for refusing to participate in a post-race TV interview during the season’s opening 250SX main event.

Further updates will follow upon the release of the complete penalty report.
