Webb’s Misstep Costs Valuable Points at Detroit Supercross
Detroit, MI – In a pivotal round of the 2025 450SX championship, Cooper Webb’s aggressive tactics backfired, resulting in a costly collision with Jorge Prado. The incident occurred as Webb attempted to overtake Prado early in the main event, ultimately sending both riders to the ground. Webb now sits fourth in the 450SX standings, trailing championship leader Eli Tomac by 26 points.
Webb reflected on the race, stating, “It was just a really dumb move on my end. I felt like I had the speed to win tonight… It’s been a tough year, but it is what it is, and you’ve got to move on.” He managed to recover and finish sixth after the crash.
Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s 450 Team Manager, Rich Simmons, shared his perspective: “Both guys had good qualifying sessions and strong heat races. It was a good recovery by Webb to come back to sixth. We want to be on the podium and missed that opportunity tonight, but you can’t be upset when the guy’s going for a win.”
For Prado, the race marked his second 13th place finish this season, a setback that he attributed to the lack of rhythm following the crash. He noted, “I had a super-good start… but another rider ended up taking me out, and we both crashed. It’s part of the process – we’ll learn and continue to get faster.”
As the series heads to St. Louis, both riders are looking to capitalize on their experiences and improve their standings in the championship.
