2026 450SMX Triple Crown Round-Up: Webb Clinches Victory Amid Thrilling Showdown
The third and final race of the 2026 450SMX Triple Crown delivered an exhilarating conclusion, marked by strategic battles and critical errors. Eli Tomac secured the holeshot but quickly faced pressure from Jason Anderson and Hunter Lawrence. Cooper Webb, starting from seventh, encountered early setbacks after a misstep off the finish line jump pushed him back to eighth.
Anderson seized the lead from Tomac, with Lawrence swiftly moving into second place. Tomac, undeterred, reclaimed the lead with aggressive maneuvers. Meanwhile, Ken Roczen climbed into contention, advancing to fourth position. As the race progressed, Lawrence established himself in second place, positioning himself favorably for the overall standings.
Webb rebounded from his earlier trouble, closing in on the leaders. After Roczen miscalculated a rhythm section, Sexton and Webb capitalized, pushing Roczen down to sixth. In a pivotal moment, Webb executed a decisive pass for third, setting the stage for a last-minute surge.
Tomac’s resilience shone through as he entered the final lap, ultimately winning Race 3 by 4.3 seconds over Lawrence. Webb fended off a determined Roczen to secure third place, effectively sealing the overall victory.
Webb’s 4-2-3 performance earned him the race win with a total of nine points, marking his 31st career victory and sixth Triple Crown title. Lawrence, just one point shy of a maiden victory at 10 points with a 7-1-2 finish, took second overall, while Roczen’s consistent 1-5-4 results placed him third after tiebreakers.
Tomac’s win solidified his fourth-place finish with 17 points (3-13-1), while Chase Sexton rounded out the top five with a cumulative score of 17 points (2-9-6).
In the 450SMX Class standings, Tomac’s lead diminishes to just four points over Lawrence, with Roczen narrowing the gap to 12 points. Sexton trails by 14 points in fourth, while Webb’s win elevates him to fifth, now just 17 points behind the leader.
