2025 AUSX Championship: Gold Coast Round Recap
Gold Coast, Australia – Ken Roczen has solidified his position at the top of the AUSX standings with a commanding 27-point lead, despite confirming he will not compete in the final two rounds of the series. Colt Nichols will assume Roczen’s seat at PMG Progressive Suzuki, although he does not inherit Roczen’s points. The title now hinges on a fierce contest between Christian Craig of Quad Lock Honda, Joey Savatgy, and Jason Anderson of PMG, with current standings showing Craig at 95 points, Savatgy at 83, and Anderson at 77.
In SX2, Max Anstie of Team GSM (Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing) began the night with an unblemished season, aiming for both qualifying and SuperPole victories. However, his first loss in SuperPole came when he ventured off the track, handing gate selection to Rick Ware Racing’s Enzo Lopes.
Lopes capitalized on this momentum, securing the holeshot and leading the first lap—breaking Anstie’s streak. Anstie quickly regained control, executing an aggressive pass on lap two, and subsequently distanced himself from the competition to clinch a comfortable victory.
The battle for the final podium spot was contested between defending champion Shane McElrath and Coty Schock. Initially, Schock maintained third place but McElrath made a decisive move during a back-and-forth struggle. Meanwhile, Cullin Park of MCR took advantage of a critical mistake by McElrath, closing in but ultimately failing to surpass Schock.
Race two mirrored the first, with Anstie and Lopes resuming their 1-2 placement. Park started strong but encountered trouble after missing a triple jump, allowing Schock to reclaim third. A crash by Lopes in the whoops ended his race prematurely.
This round sets the stage for an intense finale as Craig, Savatgy, and Anderson battle for the championship, while Anstie looks to extend his winning momentum in SX2.
