Daniel Suarez Set for New Chapter with Spire Motorsports

CHARLOTTE – Daniel Suarez, a steadfast competitor in the NASCAR Cup Series, is preparing for a significant transition to Spire Motorsports in 2026, marking his fifth team in a decade of racing at the top level. This change follows a challenging year at Trackhouse Racing, where Suarez expressed dissatisfaction with his experience despite acknowledging the team’s potential.

“The last year has been very difficult, and I haven’t been happy,” Suarez told RACER. “I felt I didn’t belong there anymore, even though I love many people at Trackhouse.”

Despite this, Suarez maintains a positive outlook on his time with Trackhouse, where he achieved notable success, including wins at Sonoma Raceway in 2022 and EchoPark Speedway in 2024. Over four seasons driving the No. 99 Chevrolet, he qualified for the postseason twice, showcasing his growth as a driver.

“I feel like a much better and complete driver,” Suarez stated, citing his fitness level and experience as key advantages moving forward. “At 33, I’m in the prime range, and I want to utilize that effectively.”

Suarez’s career trajectory has been marked by early decisions and adaptations, including a challenging start with Joe Gibbs Racing in 2017, where he replaced Carl Edwards following a successful stint in the Xfinity Series that culminated in a championship. Reflecting on his rapid ascent, he admits, “I was brand-new… learning a lot.”

His tenure with several teams—Stewart-Haas Racing, Gaunt Brothers Racing, and ultimately Trackhouse—has equipped him with unique insights into team dynamics. “Every driver’s career is unique… I’ve gone through things that most drivers don’t even understand,” he explained, emphasizing the importance of relationships and support in the NASCAR environment.

Suarez recognizes that his journey, including the initial struggles in the Cup Series, has prepared him for the challenges ahead. “If I didn’t have the difficult path, I would be blown out right now,” he remarked. “It’s about relationships, and building those takes time.”

As he gears up for 2026 and beyond, Suarez believes he has the capability to contribute meaningfully to Spire Motorsports. “I can deliver something that most drivers in their 20s are still figuring out… It’s not just about going fast; it’s about synergy and chemistry,” he asserted.

With his sights set on a successful season, Suarez embodies the resilience and determination required to thrive in the ever-evolving landscape of NASCAR.
