Briscoe Optimistic as Season Progresses with Joe Gibbs Racing

As the NASCAR Cup Series approaches the quarter-season mark, Chase Briscoe remains focused on maximizing his performance in the No. 19 Bass Pro Shops Toyota, under the guidance of crew chief James Small. Following an early-season penalty that was later overturned on appeal, the team is steadily improving.

Briscoe, currently ranked 13th in the championship standings with four top-10 finishes, recently secured a season-best fourth place at Bristol Motor Speedway. He reflects on the ongoing adjustments: “I still feel like I’m not 100 percent… I’m still learning things about the car every week.”

With the next three races taking place on intermediate tracks—Texas, Kansas, and Charlotte—Briscoe aims to find consistency. He noted the unique challenges posed by these mile-and-a-half venues compared to the short tracks: “We just haven’t run a lot of them yet this year… Getting to do the Charlotte Goodyear test was huge, but I don’t feel like I’ve raced around a lot of guys on mile-and-a-halfs yet.”

While Briscoe recognizes the potential for victory, especially given the success of his teammates Christopher Bell and Denny Hamlin—who have collectively accrued five wins this season—he’s balancing the need for patience with a competitive drive. “It’s frustrating when your teammates are winning, but it is still very, very new… I know it’s going to get there, and we’re going to have opportunities to win races.”

As the team builds momentum, the upcoming races will be critical for Briscoe and the No. 19 team to capitalize on their improving speed and continue their upward trajectory in the standings.
