Location: Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, Mexico City
As the NASCAR Cup Series prepares for its inaugural race at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, Trackhouse Racing Team’s Daniel Suárez takes center stage. A native of Monterrey, Mexico, Suárez is the only foreign-born driver to have secured a championship in any of NASCAR’s three national levels, winning the 2016 Xfinity Series title.
Suárez, who made history with his Cup Series victory at Sonoma Raceway in 2022, is competing with a special helmet design this weekend, created by Mexican artist Jorge Latapi. He stated, “This helmet represents my culture, my country, and the warrior that is within all of us. It is a huge honor for me to be Mexican and be able to represent my home country.”
Despite not yet securing a win this season, Suárez finished a close second at Las Vegas Motor Speedway earlier this year and remains a competitive force in the series. In addition to his Cup Series commitments, he will also race in the Xfinity Series this weekend for JR Motorsports, alongside fellow Mexican drivers Andres Perez De Lara and Ruben Rovelo.
