Corey Heim Dominates at New Hampshire, Ties Single-Season Wins Record
New Hampshire Motor Speedway, September 30, 2023 – Corey Heim showcased an outstanding performance in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, securing his ninth victory of the season during the Team EJP 175. This triumph not only solidifies his dominance in the league but also ties the single-season wins record set by Greg Biffle in 1999.
Driving the No. 11 TRICON Garage Toyota, Heim clinched pole position, swept both stages, led 124 of 175 laps, and recorded the fastest lap of the race. He finished 0.823 seconds ahead of Chandler Smith, who finished in second place.
“It’s a dream come true to be able to race with these guys,” Heim reflected post-race. “Everywhere we go this year, we’re either a contender or we win… I want to break that [single-season wins] record.” With 20 wins in 85 career starts, Heim is well on track to etch his name further into the series’ history.
Chandler Smith’s second-place finish was a commendable effort but ultimately fell short as he was 10 points shy of advancing in the playoffs. “Just a lot of bad luck… This doesn’t define us no matter what the outcome,” Smith stated, expressing gratitude for his team’s efforts.
Rounding out the top three, Layne Riggs of Front Row Motorsports finished third, while Heim’s rookie teammate Gio Ruggiero and reigning champion Ty Majeski took fourth and fifth, respectively.
In the playoff standings, Daniel Hemric, Ty Majeski, Tyler Ankrum, Grant Enfinger, Rajah Caruth, and Kaden Honeycutt are set to compete in the next round after points were reset. Caruth strategically opted to remain on older tires, finishing 10th while securing crucial stage points.
The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series continues on October 3 at the Charlotte ROVAL, initiating the final three-race stretch that will determine the championship contenders for the finale in Phoenix on October 31.
