Hocevar Leads NASCAR Cup Series Practice at Texas Motor Speedway
Fort Worth, TX — Carson Hocevar demonstrated dominant speed during Saturday’s NASCAR Cup Series practice at Texas Motor Speedway, clocking a lap at 190.894 mph (28.288 seconds) as he prepared for the upcoming Wurth 400.
AJ Allmendinger followed closely behind, securing the second fastest lap at 190.215 mph, with Noah Gragson finishing third at 190.0 mph. Rounding out the top five were Kyle Larson at 189.927 mph and Michael McDowell at 189.833 mph.
Notable performances continued with Josh Berry in sixth at 189.827 mph and Alex Bowman in seventh at 189.727 mph. Tyler Reddick, Erik Jones, and Austin Dillon completed the top ten, maintaining competitive speeds between 189.155 mph and 189.089 mph.
Austin Cindric stood out in the averages, recording the fastest times across the best 10, 15, 20, and 25-lap segments, though he finished 11th in single-lap speed.
Championship leader William Byron and Denny Hamlin posted 15th and 16th fastest laps, respectively, while defending Texas winner Chase Elliott managed 23rd on the chart. Ryan Blaney, Christopher Bell, and Kyle Busch finished 24th, 25th, and 30th, with Joey Logano in 31st.
Fortunately, practice concluded without significant incidents, although Shane van Gisbergen did scrape the wall at Turn 2, damaging the wrap of his Chevrolet.
For the Wurth 400, a total of 39 teams are set to compete, including two Open entries: Beard Motorsports with Jesse Love and Garage 66 with Chad Finchum.
