Homestead-Miami Speedway to Host NASCAR Championship Weekend in 2026

Homestead-Miami, FL – In a highly anticipated return, Homestead-Miami Speedway will host the NASCAR championship weekend from November 6-8, 2026, marking the event’s comeback to the venue after a hiatus since 2019. Guillermo Santa Cruz, the track’s president, expressed the significance of this development, stating, “Bringing it back is a big deal…it’s an opportunity to make sure you’re doing things right.”

The speedway, which has hosted NASCAR’s season finale since 2002 until it shifted to Phoenix Raceway in 2020, is set to host all three NASCAR national series championships. Ben Kennedy, NASCAR’s executive vice president, confirmed that Homestead-Miami has consistently been the top request from fans for the championship venue.

Historically, the track has drawn praise for its intermediate design and progressive banking, earning accolades from both drivers and spectators for delivering thrilling races. Santa Cruz noted the importance of the event in enhancing South Florida’s reputation as a sports hub. “Next year is going to be the biggest sports year in the history of South Florida,” he remarked, listing major events culminating with the NASCAR title weekend.

Despite previous scheduling inconsistencies, Santa Cruz is focused on rebuilding the track’s prominence in motorsports. He acknowledged the challenges of hosting the championship, emphasizing the need for meticulous planning and community engagement to ensure an authentic South Florida experience. “We have to represent the South Florida I know… and be welcoming and fun,” he stated.

As the 2026 championship approaches, Santa Cruz is prioritizing infrastructure enhancements and community involvement to elevate the race experience. He aims to create a unique atmosphere that showcases the locale’s diversity and charm, noting, “Don’t try to be something that you’re not… we’re chill, relaxed, fun, and come have a good time.”

With all eyes on Homestead-Miami, Santa Cruz expressed optimism for a successful event, concluding, “It’s going to be fun. It’s the championship.” The spotlight will be on the speedway as it welcomes the NASCAR community back for a celebrated finale.
