Nashville Feud Resurfaces at Mexico City NASCAR Event
The rivalry between Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Carson Hocevar reignited at the NASCAR Cup Series event in Mexico City, following a contentious incident two weeks prior at Nashville. Stenhouse suffered his first DNF of the season after a spin caused by Hocevar’s aggressive maneuvering, leading to public promises of retribution from Stenhouse.
During the Mexico City race, tensions flared again. Hocevar, struggling throughout the event and ultimately causing the final caution after stalling his No. 77 Chevrolet in the last corner, collided with Stenhouse while battling for position. Stenhouse, running on the lead lap, was spun out, resulting in a finish in 27th place.
Post-Race Confrontation
Post-race, a visibly frustrated Stenhouse approached Hocevar’s car, exchanging heated words captured by in-car cameras. "I’m gonna beat your ass," Stenhouse shouted, addressing Hocevar’s reckless driving as "unacceptable" for a driver a lap down. Hocevar, expressing regret and attributing the incident to locking up his brakes, faced Stenhouse’s ire, who emphasized the seriousness of the matter.
This altercation marks a continuation of the recent trend of confrontations for Stenhouse, who previously made headlines for a physical altercation with Kyle Busch during the 2024 All-Star Race, earning a substantial fine from NASCAR.
As the NASCAR Cup Series heads into its next events, the intense rivalry between these drivers will continue to be a focal point for fans and competitors alike.
