Trackhouse Racing to Part Ways with Daniel Suarez After 2023 Season
Trackhouse Racing founder Justin Marks confirmed the team will part ways with driver Daniel Suarez at the conclusion of the 2023 season, concluding a five-year partnership marked by two wins and two playoff appearances. As Marks explained, the decision was reached following a thorough evaluation of the team’s future goals and strategic direction.
“Daniel has been a huge part of this company,” Marks stated, noting the importance of their collaboration. However, after assessing their three- and five-year plans, Marks felt it was time to explore new opportunities as both the team and driver move forward.
Suarez, currently 29th in the championship standings, has yet to secure a win this season, a stark contrast to teammates Ross Chastain and Shane van Gisbergen, who are both positioned for postseason berths through their victories.
At the Chicago street course, van Gisbergen showcased his prowess by sweeping the weekend with both Xfinity Series and Cup Series victories, while Connor Zilisch, competing in a limited Cup Series schedule, impressed with a second-place finish in Xfinity.
In a candid media session, Suarez expressed concerns about the evolving dynamics within the team, citing a loss of chemistry and feeling that his input was not valued. “I haven’t felt as important lately,” he acknowledged, highlighting the complexities of team performance in NASCAR.
Marks emphasized a positive farewell, stating, “We met in the hotel… and talked about what we’ve accomplished together.” He reiterated the necessity for change, stating, “This isn’t a sport where you do the same thing forever,” underscoring Trackhouse Racing’s commitment to growth and progress.
