Kevin Kidd Appointed North American Motorsports Competitor Director for Stellantis
Stellantis has announced the appointment of Kevin Kidd as the North American Motorsports Competitor Director for its Dodge and Ram brands. Kidd, a seasoned veteran in the motorsports industry, will oversee Stellantis’s involvement in NHRA and the anticipated return of Ram to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
In his new role, Kidd will collaborate closely with Tony Stewart Racing and Kaulig Racing, as well as the Direct Connection Engineering division. He will report directly to Tom Sacoman, Senior Vice President of SRT Performance Division Operations.
Kidd emphasized his excitement for the position, stating, “The intersection of engineering and competition has always been my passion. Stellantis’ innovation in motorsports, especially in partnership with Kaulig Racing, presents a unique opportunity to push boundaries.” He aims to bring fresh ideas to advance the company’s competitive efforts.
With a rich background in motorsports, Kidd has held various positions, including director, crew chief, and race engineer. Notably, he served on the NASCAR Competition Advisory Committee for five years.
Sacoman praised Kidd’s unconventional approach, noting, “Our unconventional approach to competition demands a leader who can think differently, and Kevin is exactly that. His reputation in racing, combined with the capabilities of our teams, will help deliver on our ‘Last Tenth’ performance philosophy.”
Under Kidd’s leadership, Tony Stewart Racing will field one NHRA Funny Car and one NHRA Top Fuel team. Additionally, Kaulig Racing is set to serve as the anchor team for Ram’s return to NASCAR in 2026, with plans to field five teams starting in February.
