LaJoie Returns to NASCAR Action at EchoPark Speedway
Corey LaJoie is poised to return to the NASCAR Cup Series this weekend at EchoPark Speedway, driving for Rick Ware Racing. This marks only LaJoie’s fourth start of the season, having last competed at Bristol Motor Speedway in mid-April.
During his hiatus from the track, LaJoie has been active as a commentator on Prime Video’s NASCAR broadcasts alongside Danielle Trotta and Carl Edwards. Reflecting on his time away from racing, LaJoie noted the psychological pressures of competition. “Driving the race car can be a really lonely place,” he remarked, emphasizing that focusing too much on performance can impede enjoyment and lead to unnecessary stress.
LaJoie has a history with EchoPark Speedway, where he notably finished 19th in 2022 after contending for victory against Chase Elliott, ultimately being forced into the wall during a critical moment. He recounted, “I thought I made the right move on the last lap…that was pretty close to career victory number one.”
Looking ahead, LaJoie expressed optimism about his return, stating, “Now that I’m back in the seat, I’m going to enjoy it… It’s a great opportunity for me to run well and have some fun.” LaJoie is also slated to participate in nine of the final 13 races in the Craftsman Truck Series with Spire Motorsports, marking a busy second half of the season.
As LaJoie gears up for the race this weekend, he aims to capitalize on his past performances and contribute positively to his team’s efforts.
